Shillong: Amanche Ch. Marak filed an FIR against Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday, August 3. She represents the family of the Danakgre Akhing Nokma. The complaint landed at the Araimile Police Outpost in Tura. It accuses state leadership of illegally handing out land pattas.
Marak claims the Chief Minister worked with West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Charming N. Sangma. The leadership of the Chinap Aslang locality also faces allegations. These parties supposedly distributed land titles on June 30. They allegedly collected large lease payments from residents in the process. This land falls under the Sixth Schedule and the Assam Scheduled Districts Act.
The land status remains sub judice before the Meghalaya High Court. The case is filed as WP(C) No. 671 of 2025. Marak argues the government ignored formal objections submitted under Section 5A of the Land Acquisition Act. She says this move represents a criminal conspiracy. The FIR labels the distribution as a violation of constitutional rights and contempt of court. It seeks a full investigation and formal charges under the IPC, CrPC, and Contempt of Court Acts.
The family says this action bypasses traditional authority. "The move violated constitutional safeguards and ignored formal objections filed under Section 5A of the Land Acquisition Act." Neither the Chief Minister nor the district administration has responded to these accusations yet.
