Night bus smashes into divider on NH-27 near Sonapur

Guwahati: A night bus careened into a tree on a central divider in Sonapur, triggering yet another wreck on the dangerous NH-27 corridor. The vehicle was headed from Guwahati to Haflong when the crash occurred. The driver apparently swerved to dodge an oncoming vehicle, lost control, and slammed into the tree planted in the middle of the road.

Roughly 25 passengers were on board during the impact. They managed to dodge a catastrophe. No major casualties have been reported yet, though the condition of those involved remains under review. Local officials are working to pin down the exact circumstances of the wreck.

A separate incident occurred at Tetelia in Khetri, where a passenger van struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the highway. The victim, identified as Sanjay Ram, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for emergency treatment. The van was moving from Nagaon toward Guwahati when it hit Ram.

This wreck follows the bus crash in Sonapur, adding to a string of accidents that have bloodied this stretch of highway. Officials are still probing both scenes to figure out what went wrong.
