Kohima: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha inspected a potential replacement property in New Delhi. They need a new spot for citizens visiting the city for medical care and official business. The search follows a major fire that hit Nagaland House on June 22.
The blaze broke out in Room No. 2 at the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road facility. Investigators blame a faulty air-conditioning unit for the short circuit. The Delhi Fire Service doused the flames quickly. Nobody died or suffered injuries. The structure, which opened in 1973 under Dr Hokeshe Sema, has hosted residents for over 50 years.
Chief Minister’s Adviser Abu Metha previously confirmed that experts are currently grading the structural damage. Patton took to social media to explain the state’s current mission. "Our priority is to ensure that our people have access to safe, convenient and comfortable accommodation in Delhi during this period," Patton said. Officials want to ensure guests stay in a secure environment while they weigh their options.
