Kohima: Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, Advisor to the Chief Minister, headlined the third Nerhema Organic Day-cum-Khuvie Nyi on Wednesday. The event took place at the Multipurpose Hall in Chiephobozou Town. It aimed to boost organic farming and spotlight local chives, or Khuvie. Farmers displayed their harvest in stalls following the main program.
Keditsu pushed for a mix of tradition and modern, sustainable methods. He said, "Organic farming was beneficial for soil health and the environment while also providing opportunities for farmers to produce healthier food and improve their livelihoods." The official called for better branding and packaging to move local goods into bigger markets. He challenged youth to treat farming as a business venture instead of hunting for government jobs.
Kereikhollie Rülho chaired the ceremony. Pastor Dziesetuolie Chadi led the prayer, while convener Kevipusa Kezieo gave the keynote address. Thejaneinuo Kiewhuo provided a special musical performance. Organizers launched this event in 2024 to build awareness for local crops and expand economic opportunities for the region.
