Kohima: ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dimapur, kicked off the Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026 Rabi Campaign on October 22. The event took place in Chümoukedima Village. It runs until November 30. The project aims to improve soil health and push farmers toward sustainable, scientific agricultural methods.

District Agriculture Officer Moainla Pongen spoke at the event. She stressed how critical these habits are for long-term farm success. "She emphasised the need for scientific soil management and eco-friendly farming methods to conserve soil resources and support sustainable agricultural development."

KVK officials handed out garden tools and vermibags to locals during the launch. These items help farmers recycle organic waste into manure. Experts noted that vermicomposting boosts nutrient availability and repairs soil structure. The team also inaugurated a Vermicompost Model Village at the site.

Staff from KVK Dimapur attended the launch, including Dr. Marneni Divya Sree and Dr. Chingakham Sima Chanu. Dr. Harendra Verma, a scientist from the ICAR Research Complex for the NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, also participated. The campaign targets widespread education on soil conservation for the region.
