Kohima: Nagaland School Education Advisor Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome opened the new Government Primary School Kewhitsütuo Model building in Kohima on July 17. The project cost 117 lakh rupees, funded entirely by the T. Khel Council. The Zatsu clan donated the land.
Established in 2013, the school currently serves 67 students with eight teachers. Dr. Yhome praised the fast growth and suggested upgrading the facility into a composite school to serve the area's increasing population. He credited the School Management Committee and local leadership for the progress.
T. Khel Council Chairman K. Neibou Sekhose viewed the facility as long-term protection for the youth. "In the olden days we protected the village with spears. Today we protect our children with education. That's why building a school in Kewhitsütuo Model is not expense, it is security," he said.
Kohima Municipal Council Chairperson Neibodzelie Solo attended the ceremony to flag off a waste disposal vehicle funded by the council. He urged residents to participate in the census and pushed for better waste management in the capital. The Tsütuonuomia clan, which governs the area, plans to build a higher secondary school at the site.
The Kewhitsütuo Model project began in 1972 after forefathers preserved the land to benefit future generations. The area now features significant infrastructure, including a health center, a stadium project, and a major water reservoir. Principal Director Shashank Pratap Singh and other officials attended the event.
