Nagaland News: Tenyimi Union Session, KCCI Membership, and NSCN-IM Condemnation

Kohima: The Tenyimi Union Nagaland is set to hold its first annual general session on June 23 at the Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho Badze in Meriema. Beginning at 10:00 AM, the event will operate under the theme of fostering a progressive society through unity. Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye will attend as the special guest, joined by Minister of Women Resource Development and Horticulture Salhoutuonuo Kruse as the guest of honour. The session will also feature an address by union president Kekhwengulo Lea and the announcement of the new leadership team for the 2026 to 2029 term.

Separately, the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry has officially launched its registration and membership drive for the 2026 fiscal year. Business owners should only engage with authorized officials who hold official badges issued by the chamber office.

In other developments, the United Sangtam Region of the NSCN-IM has issued a formal condemnation regarding the alleged rape of an 82-year-old woman in Kiphire district. The organization identified the suspect as an Armed Branch Constable from the District Executive Force. Describing the event as a betrayal of public trust, the group stated, "no individual, regardless of position or authority is above the law." The NSCN-IM is demanding a transparent investigation and strict legal consequences, emphasizing that such violence against vulnerable members of society is entirely unacceptable.
