Kohima: Census authorities across Nagaland are pushing to complete House Listing Operations by July 30. Officials are stressing the need for absolute accuracy. Quality data now builds the foundation for future phases. Dr. Kenei Miachieo, Director of Census Operations, visited Meluri on July 8 to coordinate with Deputy Commissioner Phuleshe K Yepthomi. Similar reviews took place in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, and Chiephobozou. Officials clarified that the census is strictly for population tracking, not electoral rolls or identity card verification.

Infrastructure development continues alongside these administrative tasks. On July 2, Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Sarita Yadav flagged off two new college buses for Sao Chang College and Pfutsero Government College. In Kohima, MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso inaugurated the PWD Colony Gate on July 4, while drainage clearance took place in Upper Jail Colony on July 11 under councillor Medoviu Martin Suohu. Meanwhile, authorities patched a pothole near the NHAK gate following recent public concern.

Social welfare and health initiatives remain active. The District Welfare Office in Dimapur began disbursing pending pension payments on June 25 for beneficiaries of IGNOAPS, IGNWPS, IGNDPS, and other state schemes. A free anti-rabies vaccination camp for pets occurred at the East Dimapur Town Council on June 26. In Kohima, a three-day state-level training on Pain and Palliative Care for 47 nurses and physiotherapists wrapped up on June 27.

The United Sangtam Region of the NSCN (IM) condemned the alleged rape of an 82-year-old woman in Kiphire district. The organization demanded swift legal action against the accused Armed Branch Constable. "No individual, regardless of position or authority is above the law," the group stated. Elsewhere, the Kohima Press Club mourned the loss of 34-year-old Vihutuo Tsükrü.

Governance and organizational updates also moved forward. The Tenyimi Union Nagaland scheduled its first annual general session for June 23. The Chakhesang Vero Union appointed Vethi Vero as chairman for 2026-2028. Additionally, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports is building a digital athlete database, and the Zunheboto district began Special Intensive Revision training for Booth Level Officers on July 13.
