Nagaland Board of School Education Staff Train in AI Tools

Kohima: Forty-four staff members from the Nagaland Board of School Education gathered in Kohima on August 11 for an intensive workshop on artificial intelligence. The one-day session, organized with Mission SOAR Nagaland, aimed to shave hours off the board’s heavy administrative workload. Resource experts from Mumbai’s Shikha Academy led the training, focusing on how to automate tasks like drafting letters and cross-checking documents.

NBSE Secretary and Chairperson Rangumbuing Nsarangbe opened the event by urging his team to leverage new technology for better output. The staff dived into generative AI, practicing everything from data analysis to writing prompts for public notices. They even built custom AI assistants to handle recurring duties without constant manual intervention.

Participants noted the training filled critical gaps in their workflow. Rüchünino Ziephrü, an assistant academic officer, found the session on prompts particularly helpful. She stated, "We were already using AI, but this workshop showed us how to use it properly."

The group also tackled the ethics of automation and data safety. Everyone learned that AI remains a tool to support professional judgment rather than replace it. Cashier Kekhrievilie Nakhro noted the session was highly motivational for those new to the technology. The board plans to monitor how these digital tools improve efficiency before scheduling more specialized sessions for specific departments.
