Kohima: The Naga Students Federation (NSF) officially rejected a statement from the Kuki-Zo Council regarding the recent killing of six Naga civilians. NSF leadership Mteisuding and Kenilo Kent slammed the council for allegedly trying to distract from the abduction, torture, and murder of the victims. They called the council's attempt to label Nagas as Kacha Naga completely outrageous.
The federation claims the council has no authority to redefine indigenous identities. They pointed out that many Kuki-Zo groups only arrived in the region during the British colonial period. The NSF stated, "No artificial frontier could alter the Nagas’ common history, shared identity or collective destiny."
Attempts to slice the Naga people into regional categories are just tactics to fracture their unity. The NSF warned against these divisive agendas. They demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of all responsible parties, including Kuki narco-militant groups. The federation also urged the Indian government to scrap the Suspension of Operations agreement with these militant factions. Justice for the victims remains their primary goal.
