Kohima: The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) publicly rejected a recent statement from the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC). The federation claims the KZC is trying to distract from the brutal abduction and murder of six Naga civilians. They also slammed the KZC for using derogatory labels to redefine indigenous Naga identity.
Tensions remain high. The NSF insists the Naga nation predates colonial borders and rejects any attempts to divide their people into artificial groups. They warned outsiders against pushing agendas that threaten Naga unity. While the group says they value peaceful coexistence, they drew a hard line on recent events.
"The issue before us is neither political propaganda nor competing narratives. It is the brutal loss of six innocent Naga civilian lives," the NSF stated. They argue that mere apologies cannot fix the horror of the torture and desecration reported after the killings.
The federation wants the Indian government to scrap the Suspension of Operations agreement with Kuki armed groups immediately. They allege these groups operate with total impunity. The NSF is calling for the arrest and prosecution of every individual involved in the crime.
Support for the victims is growing. The United Naga Council recently traveled to New Delhi to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi for federal intervention. They want state protection for Naga areas and justice for the dead. The NSF maintains that peace requires truth, accountability, and a final resolution to the long-standing Indo-Naga political struggle.
