Kohima: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Mokokchung started a 200-hour skill training program on October 9. Held at the Union Baptist Fellowship on the Fazl Ali College campus, the initiative targets rural youth, self-help group members from Chuchuyimpang and Alisungkum, and local students. Technical Officer Tangitla chaired the event.
Dr. Keviletsu Khate, the head of KVK Mokokchung, oversees the project under a mandate from NITI Aayog. The curriculum covers various green skills designed to boost self-employment and sustainable development. Dr. Khate urged students to shift their focus away from limited government jobs. He noted that, "certain skills could not be replaced by artificial intelligence."
Participants must commit to starting at least one entrepreneurial project using their new skills. Rev. Lima Lemtur, pastor of the fellowship, emphasized the church's commitment to youth welfare. He told attendees to show up regularly and stay focused to solve local unemployment issues. The month-long training finished its launch with remarks from Dr. Sarendi Walling, who thanked the partners for their help.
