Kohima: More than 200 rural youth gathered at the Town Hall in Dimapur on September 1 for the first Combined Induction Programme under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0. This event marked the first such induction since the program launched on April 1, 2025. DDU-GKY operates as a fully funded, placement-linked residential initiative designed to give rural youth industry skills and stable jobs.
The Mission Director of the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) told the crowd that DDU-GKY remains the only residential training effort supported by both State and Central Governments in Nagaland. The Director pushed trainees to stick with their training and focus on self-reliance. Project Implementing Agencies also received orders to maintain high training standards and secure solid placements to boost the state's national standing.
Kevirenu Kera, now a Dining Steward with the UK-based Cunard Cruise Line, shared her journey from initial training to an international hospitality career. She urged the new recruits to "embrace challenges, believe in themselves, and seize every opportunity." New students Thejasituo Sale and Ruokuokhrienuo Miario noted that the program is teaching them aviation knowledge, communication, discipline, and professional confidence. The event closed with a final call for patience and dedication as the students start their transition toward independence.
