Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma challenged postgraduate students to rethink their academic goals. He spoke Wednesday, August 5, at the Deeksharambh-2026 induction program hosted by The Assam Royal Global University. The Chief Minister pushed back against the drive for simple degrees. He wants visionary leaders instead.

Lalduhoma argued that universities must do more than hand out diplomas. Institutions need to build compassion and responsibility. They must prepare young people for a fast-moving, complex world. Graduates need to drive social change. They need values along with their books.

He told the crowd that the core mission of higher education is simple. It should teach individuals "how to think, not what to think". This focus on independent judgment helps students make informed decisions. It encourages intellectual curiosity and deep thinking.

The Chief Minister urged students to treat learning as a permanent commitment. He asked them to look past their classroom walls and standard exams. They must seek a broader perspective and a sense of purpose during their time at the university.
