Mizoram Bolsters Drug Rehab Efforts With New Funding and Grants

Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma handed out financial aid to 33 people and accreditation certificates to 21 drug treatment centers on August 8. The move aims to stiffen the state's fight against addiction. The event took place at the Assembly annexe in Aizawl. It functioned under the state's Bana Kaih, or Handholding, scheme.

Social Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii joined the Chief Minister at the ceremony. Lalduhoma highlighted the wreck drug abuse leaves on families. He noted that the government works alongside NGOs and churches to assist people in recovery. The administration is currently mounting an aggressive campaign against drug traffickers. It prioritizes teaching recovering users new trades to help them rejoin society.

Data shows 194 recovering individuals at the Hulhliap detoxification centre finished training in 13 different skill programs. Lalrinpuii emphasized the government's resolve to assist those battling chemical dependency. She shared plans for future improvements: "The government is considering introducing the Narcotics Anonymous system through churches to make rehabilitation efforts more structured and effective."
