Missing Khelo India Hall Found at Minister’s Private Home

Kohima: A 3 crore rupee multipurpose hall meant for public use sits behind the security gates of a private home. The Mangkolemba Ao Youth Telongjem filed a formal complaint with the Nagaland Governor on August 10. They claim the project was improperly shifted to the Longtho village residence of the Minister for Higher Education and Tourism. The youth group insists the building is off-limits.

The youth body stated, "Legally, the asset remains a private property locked behind a politician's private security gates." They further allege that while a local official issued a No Objection Certificate in October 2023, no legal land donation deed was ever signed.

The state government fired back on August 11. The Director of Youth Resources and Sports claims the site sits within the approved administrative circle. They argue the project scope never guaranteed the facility would land inside Mangkolemba town or the ADC headquarters. Officials maintain the site was properly vetted.

The department cited a December 9, 2025, verification report confirming the project is complete. They claim the local ADC and Village Council verified the land as clear. A July 2024 work order awarded the contract to M/s Aren Enterprises. The government insists the project meets all federal geo-tagging standards.
