Mediator Stabbed During Car Ownership Dispute in Assam

Guwahati: A car ownership dispute in Assam turned bloody on August 7. Faruk Ahmed Majumdar was stabbed in the chest in Islamabad village. The victim remains in critical condition at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Dholai Police Station oversees the area where the attack occurred.

Badarul Islam and Nurul Islam, who are brothers-in-law, bought the car together recently. The title sat in Nurul's name, but the two men clashed over ownership and mounting debt. A finance company hounded Nurul about missed payments. Faruk, a senior relative, stepped in to act as a mediator.

Nurul arrived at the in-laws' home on the night of the incident to talk. They sat side by side. Tensions reached a breaking point. Nurul allegedly pulled a hidden knife and struck Faruk in the chest. Locals and family members rushed the wounded man to the hospital before his transfer to Silchar. Nurul fled the scene immediately after the attack.

The stabbing left the local community shaken. Police intend to investigate the matter and pursue legal action against the suspect. One local source noted, "The incident has created tension in the Islamabad area." Authorities are currently gathering evidence to determine the exact circumstances of the night.
