Manipur Police Suspend Constable Over Liangmai Naga Civilian Killings

Imphal: Manipur Police suspended constable Thangginlian Vaiphei following the brutal killing of six Liangmai Naga civilians at Leilon. The Bishnupur Superintendent of Police issued the formal order late yesterday evening. Public anger is rising. The officer, identified by service number 1809195, currently works with the Kangpokpi District Police but holds a permanent attachment to the Bishnupur district force.

Authorities are now weighing a departmental inquiry against the constable to determine his role in the deaths. Officials stated the move comes "pending an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abduction and subsequent killing" of the victims. Political pressure continues to mount as the department tries to address the fallout from the Leilon tragedy.
