Manipur Police Arrest Two Men for Fatal Machete Attack

Shillong: Manipur Police arrested two men in connection with the murder of an Assam man at Thangal Bazar in Imphal. The victim hailed from Borojalenga village in Silchar. The attack took place on Monday. Authorities identified the suspects as 60-year-old Yendrembam Paona Singh and 39-year-old Laishram Ngongo Meitei.

Police launched an investigation after receiving an FIR at the Imphal city police station. Singh admitted to the killing during questioning. He cited a dispute over illicit ganja dealings as his motive. The pair traveled to the market specifically to murder the victim. Singh slashed the man's neck with a machete. Blood-stained clothing and a two-wheeler used to flee the scene are now in police custody.

The investigation remains active. Officers are currently searching for the weapon used in the attack. Regarding the status of the case, police stated, "Efforts are on to recover the machete used in committing the crime. Further investigation is underway."
