Shillong: Technology is changing the world. Commissioner and Secretary Vijay Kumar D warned students in Shillong on Saturday that artificial intelligence, robotics, and climate change are shaking up the global job market. The future remains unpredictable, but new paths are opening for the youth.
Kumar spoke at the 23rd Meritorious Awards hosted by the Raid Laban Sports Social and Cultural Organisation. He told the crowd: “The future will be uncertain, and we don’t know what kind of jobs will exist in five to ten years, but there will be many new opportunities.”
Global competition is rising. Technology has leveled the playing field for everyone, making consistent effort the only way to master a new skill. Kumar pushed the students to aim high and keep a positive outlook. Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai joined the event to applaud the group for its ongoing work in the community.
Success was on full display. The event honored 314 high-achieving students. Toppers from 28 categories in the South Shillong constituency walked away with laptops, a group that included both students from BPL families and those who had previously dropped out of school.
