Shillong: Blessingstar Mawlieh resigned as the organising secretary of the Voice of the People Party in Mawkyrwat on October 27. He stepped down as both an office-bearer and a primary member. The resignation follows reports of an internal divide within the party unit.
Mawlieh sent his formal letter to the VPP Central Body. He cited personal reasons for the departure. However, sources close to the party claim that underlying tensions triggered the move. The friction surfaced after Pynkhraw Kharjahrin quit his post as an Executive Member of the KHADC. Mawlieh and other members reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with those developments.
Mawlieh distanced himself from all party activities before finalizing his resignation. He was a central figure for the VPP. "Mawlieh was considered a key figure in the VPP’s Mawkyrwat unit and played a significant role in the party’s success during the last MDC elections." His exit marks a blow to the local organization.
