KHADC Reinstates Nangtei Sing Syiemiong as Hima Langrin Chief

Shillong: The VPP-led Executive Committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council reinstated Nangtei Sing Syiemiong as Syiem of Hima Langrin. He returns to office three years after the previous administration suspended him. His reinstatement officially ends the term of Acting Syiem Bryllyenhenry Syiemiong.

Syiemiong addressed local leaders and residents at Phlangdiloin on Sunday. He confirmed that a probe conducted by the Judicial Magistrate of the District Council Court in Mawkyrwat cleared his name. Investigators found zero evidence of fund misuse or administrative mismanagement. He remains firm on his role. "The Management Board is only responsible for two specific plots of land—Law Lyngngam Tila and Pynden Tanglieh—and does not interfere with the general governance of the Hima," Syiemiong said.

He clarified the scope of the Management Board to resolve lingering talk about double authority within the Hima. The board holds no power over general governance.
