Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along Addresses USTM Students

Shillong: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya hosted its Orientation Programme 2026 today at the Central Auditorium in Ri-Bhoi. The event welcomed incoming students, highlighting career paths and the duties of young learners. Nagaland Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, attended as the chief guest.

Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM and Chairman of ERDF, opened the ceremony. He welcomed both the minister and the new cohort. Along took the stage next. He told the crowd that the university is a hub for the entire Northeast. He pushed students to build confidence and character during their stay. "The whole Northeast is at USTM," Along said.

The minister urged everyone to prepare for future roles in the nation. He emphasized that students must use their time well to benefit society. The event focused on mixing academic success with holistic growth. Prof. G. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM, closed the day with a vote of thanks.
