Shillong: The All-India Law Graduate Conclave 2026 kicked off at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya today. Graduates, academics, and legal experts filled the Central Auditorium for the opening. This event serves as a national hub for legal education debates.
Competitions run throughout the week. Attendees will face off in Moot Court, Judgment Writing, Extempore Speech, Law Quiz, Debate, and Crime Scene Investigation. Nearly 100 colleges from across the nation sent representatives to participate. They are here to network with policymakers and legal professionals.
Brening A. Sangma, Meghalaya Cabinet Minister, addressed the crowd. He noted the weight of the profession. "The legal profession carries a great responsibility towards society and the nation," Sangma stated. He praised the gathering for giving graduates a chance to sharpen their skills for the justice system.
A long list of dignitaries attended the opener. Guests included S.P. Mahanta of the Meghalaya State Bar Council, USTM Vice Chancellor Prof. G. D. Sharma, and Prof. Subhram Rajkhowa. Padma Shri Dr. Sarbeswar Sahariya, Dr. A.C. Kataki, Dr. Anurekha Goswami, and CEO Pawan Agarwal also joined the stage.
The university expects a high-profile finish. The valedictory session on September 26, 2026, will feature former Chief Justice of India B. R. Gavai and Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere. USTM, founded in 2011, holds an A-grade NAAC rating and ranks among the top 200 universities by NIRF.
