Imphal: Manipur Police arrested 56-year-old Zenngaihniang on July 24 during a crackdown on narcotics trafficking. She lives at Gouchinkhup Veng in the New Lamka area of Churachandpur district. Officers acting on an NDPS Act case booked at Churachandpur Police Station moved in to make the bust.
The raid netted Rs 28,78,400 in cash. Police suspect the money comes from the illegal drug trade. The woman allegedly moved large sums to beneficiaries operating inside Myanmar. Investigators seized five cash registers and a machine used for counting money from her possession.
This arrest marks another step in the state force's ongoing War On Drugs campaign. Authorities continue to dig into the case. They want to map the financial network and track down other people tied to this cross-border operation. A police official stated, "Further investigation is underway to trace the financial network and identify others linked to the alleged cross-border drug trafficking racket."
