Manipur CM Joins National Summit on Women and Child Welfare

Imphal: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh traveled to New Delhi on October 10. He attended the closing session of the two-day National Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan. Commissioner Haobam Rosita and Director Sheikh Abdul Hakim accompanied him to the event held on October 8 and 9.

State ministers and senior officials gathered to address child protection, nutrition, and early childhood care. They reviewed service delivery methods. The agenda covered four primary themes. Officials examined ways to upgrade Anganwadi Centres for nutrition and early education. They also discussed child protection systems and legal frameworks for women's safety.

Manipur officials presented their best practices for women's welfare. They shared insights on how to boost the impact of government schemes. The delegation identified specific program bottlenecks and worked on strategies to fix them. Better outcomes remain the goal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the proceedings. He demanded change. During his address, he stated, "Anganwadi Centres to evolve into hubs of community participation rather than function as isolated institutions." He pushed for Jan Bhagidari to ensure local communities take an active role in these services.
