Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh sat down with Major General Shubhankar Basu at the State Secretariat on July 25. Basu holds the rank of General Officer Commanding for the 57 Mountain Division and carries the Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal. They talked shop. The pair reviewed the state's security situation, which the Chief Minister claims has improved significantly thanks to military intervention.
Basu handed over tickets and passes for the Durand Cup 2026 during the session. Khemchand Singh praised the armed forces for their hard work in restoring order across the region. He believes the tournament will help bridge divides between local groups. "The Durand Cup 2026 would play an important role in bringing together people from different communities and further strengthening peace and harmony in the state," the Chief Minister said.
