Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh held a high-level security meeting in Imphal on August 10. He pushed to fast-track bus services connecting Imphal to Guwahati and Dimapur. The session took place at the Chief Minister Secretariat.

Key officials attended. The list included Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Advisor (Security) Kuldiep Singh, and DGP Mukesh Singh. ADGP (Intelligence) Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo, Major General Gaurav Sharma, and GOC 57 Mountain Division Major General Subhankar Basu joined them. IG CRPF Rajendra Narayan Dash also sat in on the review. Representatives from the SIB, BSF, ITBP, and SSB rounded out the group.

The meeting focused on road safety. The government aims to restore normal movement across the state by securing National Highways. Khemchand followed this session with a meeting involving transport representatives to map out the restart of inter-state routes. The move follows a joint announcement made on August 8 at Kangpokpi district headquarters by Khemchand, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, and Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen.

The government is working with security agencies to clear the way for these transit corridors. Officials expect the routes to improve road links with Assam and Nagaland. The state remains focused on restoring key transport links.

Officials confirmed the session functioned as a Combined Headquarters Unified Command meeting. The gathering served a dual purpose: it served as a broad assessment of the state's ongoing law and order situation, alongside the specific tactical planning for the highway corridors.

Key personnel updates from the briefing include the presence of IGAR (South) Major General Gaurav Sharma and the IG for the CRPF M and N Sector, Rajendra Narayan Dash. The intelligence and paramilitary representation also included the Joint Director of the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau, the Deputy Inspector General of the BSF, the Commandant of the ITBP, and the Officer Commanding of the SSB stationed in Manipur.
