Imphal: Manipur Congress Legislature Party leader Keisham Meghachandra Singh met with Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on September 21. They discussed the state's ongoing ethnic violence. Tensions continue to rise between the Naga and Kuki communities. Conflict also persists between the Kuki-Zo and Meitei groups. The state is in chaos.
Meghachandra told reporters that he updated Gandhi on the widespread instability. "Today, I met Rahul Gandhi and apprised him of the present situation in Manipur, including the situation between the Nagas and Kukis, as well as the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities," he said. He claimed no clear roadmap exists to restore peace. Development programs have completely collapsed under the current leadership.
The Congress leader blasted the government for inaction. He specifically called out Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh. "The new government, led by Minister Khemchand Singh, is also not taking any serious measures to bring back normalcy in the state," he stated. Security remains a massive challenge for the administration as communal fighting continues.
