Imphal: Manipur BJP leaders staged a massive protest in Imphal on July 22 to slam the Congress party. They accuse Rahul Gandhi of weaponizing student issues for political theater. Tensions flared outside Congress Bhavan as party workers exchanged hostile slogans. Police stepped in to stop a physical confrontation.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh led the demonstration at Thambal Shanglen. Party members marched from Nityapat Chuthek through Paona Bazaar to BT Road. They carried signs reading Stop Sponsored Anarchy and Stop Manufactured Chaos. One placard even declared Congress equals anarchy and BJP equals democracy.
State Secretary K. Sharat branded the opposition coalition as the Cockroach Janata Party. He claimed the Congress is misleading students to destabilize India. Sharat alleged these tactics mimic the unrest seen in Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. He stated that the protest serves as a direct rebuttal to Congress members who marched on the Prime Minister's residence one day earlier.
The Chief Minister slammed the opposition for bypassing parliamentary debate to chase headlines. He insisted the government is ready to discuss NEET reforms in the Monsoon Session. Regarding the ongoing friction, the Chief Minister said young people deserve "solutions, certainty and responsible leadership, not political theatrics." BJP officials maintained that the rally was necessary to protect the nation's democratic order from what they call manufactured chaos.
