Imphal: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity wants the Manipur government to talk to the United Naga Council immediately. They need to end the economic blockade strangling the region. COCOMI claims the state and central governments have failed to stop the chaos since the conflict started in May 2023.
People are suffering. Normal life has collapsed. COCOMI says officials have ignored the violence, pointing to unresolved murders and attacks that plague the state. They specifically cited the May abduction of 18 Liangmai women and minors, followed by the gruesome discovery of bodies in June. These acts show that security is nonexistent.
The group has lobbied both the state and central governments for months. They demand justice for victims and real protection for civilians. "Restoring peace, ensuring security, and delivering justice are the Government's primary responsibilities," the committee stated. They continue to call for immediate action to handle the prevailing situation.
The committee is losing patience with armed groups roaming free. They questioned why the government remains silent regarding clashes between security forces and locals. If leaders do not act soon, COCOMI threatened to join the blockade itself to force a response.

The United Naga Council is ready to sit down for a tripartite meeting with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Manipur government. UNC President Ng Lorho said a session planned for August 3 fell through after officials refused to move the talk from Imphal to Senapati. The council is now waiting for the government to send over a fresh proposal.
