Manipur Chief Minister Distributes 91 Crore in Welfare Funds

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh distributed 91.66 crore in welfare benefits on Wednesday. The funds went to 240,758 people. The total payout hit 91,66,50,772 rupees.

The event took place at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. Beneficiaries received aid through 17 different Social Welfare Department schemes. The Chief Minister also started the Integrated Monthly Pension Processing System to speed up payments.

The state has struggled for three years. A prolonged crisis has hit residents hard. Khemchand Singh acknowledged the financial and emotional toll on the public during his address.

He pushed for unity across all groups. "He urged people from all communities living in the state to consider themselves as Manipuris and to contribute towards making Manipur a better state," the Chief Minister said. This aid comes under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel noted the heavy burden on vulnerable groups. He highlighted the needs of women, children, senior citizens, people with disabilities, widows, and internally displaced persons. Officials including Khuraijam Loken Singh, Losii Dikho, Nemcha Kipgen, and Commissioner Haobam Rosita attended. The state aims for inclusive growth.
