Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh handed out 91,66,50,772 rupees in welfare benefits on Wednesday, July 22. The aid reached 240,758 people at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. These funds cover 17 different Social Welfare Department schemes.
Khemchand also launched the Integrated Monthly Pension Processing System. This digital tool aims to speed up payments and boost transparency for pensioners. The Chief Minister spoke to the crowd about the last three years. He noted the prolonged crisis caused deep financial and mental strain across the state. He pushed for unity among all groups. "He urged people from all communities living in the state to consider themselves as Manipuris and to contribute towards making Manipur a better state."
The initiative runs under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel spoke after the Chief Minister. He noted that women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, widows, and internally displaced persons carried the heaviest load during recent hard times. He claimed the government must support these groups.
Several officials attended the event. Arts and Culture and Tourism Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh joined the session. Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen joined via video link. Social Welfare Commissioner Haobam Rosita, various MLAs, government staff, students, and beneficiaries also filled the hall.
