Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh distributed Rs 91,66,50,772 in welfare aid on Wednesday. The funds reached 240,758 people across the state. The event took place at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. These benefits cover 17 different Social Welfare Department schemes.
Khemchand Singh also launched the Integrated Monthly Pension Processing System. This digital tool aims to speed up payments. It brings transparency to pension delivery. The Chief Minister spoke to the crowd about the past three years. He noted that the state has endured a long, draining crisis. These measures aim to support vulnerable residents. He stated, "The state had gone through challengeing times over the past three years, with the prolonged crisis placing considerable financial and emotional strain on people."
The initiative runs under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman provided the guidance. The Chief Minister urged residents to set aside community lines. He wants everyone to work as Manipuris to rebuild the state. Peace is essential.
Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel addressed the attendees next. He highlighted the impact on specific groups. Women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, widows, and internally displaced persons have suffered the most. The government now views their care as a shared duty.
Several officials attended the event. Deputy Chief Ministers Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen joined the proceedings. Khuraijam Loken Singh, the Minister for Arts, Culture and Tourism, was present. Social Welfare Commissioner Haobam Rosita, various MLAs, government staff, and students filled the hall. The administration claims this reflects a deep commitment to social justice.
