Kohima: The Lotha Students’ Union reached a deal on September 16 with contractors, vendors, and business owners in Wokha district. All employers must now ensure non-local workers carry valid Inner Line Permits and other mandatory government documents. Employers own this burden. If a worker lacks proper paperwork, the person who hired them takes the fall.
The union plans to enforce its own resolutions against anyone breaking these rules. They will show no mercy to locals who shelter or support undocumented labor. Anyone caught skirting the law faces direct action. The union insists this push is about building a “proper and responsible system” for hiring non-local staff.
LSU officials issued their statement on September 16. They want full compliance from all parties involved. Cooperation is the only way forward for those operating in Wokha.
