Longleng Officials Order Owners to Leash Stray Dogs

Kohima: Longleng Additional Deputy Commissioner Thungchanbemo Tungoe has ordered all dog owners to keep their animals locked behind gates. If you walk your dog, keep it on a leash. The order took effect immediately on October 13.

Town streets are a mess. Canines are tearing through garbage and creating health hazards while scaring residents. The ADC noted that these roaming packs create a public nuisance and threaten safety. Tungoe issued the mandate in the interest of "public health, cleanliness and safety."

The Longleng Town Council plans to clear the streets. Officials will round up any animals found wandering without an owner. Your pet could be captured and handled under existing animal welfare laws. Owners caught in violation may face penalties. Keep your dogs at home or under control to avoid legal trouble.
