Kohima: Four people died in Mangkolemba Sub-Division after drinking suspected adulterated MC Rum. Mokokchung Police confirmed four others fell ill from the same supply. Officers arrested six people so far. They seized the tainted stock.
Mangkolemba Police Station registered Case No. 002. They filed charges under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case also includes violations of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989. Investigators are currently tracing the full supply chain. They want to identify everyone involved in the production and sale of the poison. The department issued a stern warning. "Appropriate legal action will be taken against those found involved," the police stated.
Authorities expect medical reports to confirm the exact cause of death. Officials told the public to stop drinking immediately. Bad liquor might be anywhere in the state. Anyone with symptoms like blurred vision, dizziness, or chest pain must see a doctor now. Report any illegal storage to the police.
This marks a grim spike in casualties. Nine people died earlier this month in Tuensang town and Chendang Saddle. Those deaths occurred on September 10 and 11. Scientists are still reviewing forensic data from those cases. The total death toll linked to bad booze in Nagaland this month hit 13.
