Kohima: The District Health Society in Longleng observed the 27th World Sight Day on October 8. Officials organized the event under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment. It operated under the theme, "Love Your Eyes."

The program at District Hospital Longleng began with an invocation by Case Registry Assistant Longjei L. Phom. NCS counselor A. Bingmei Phom chaired the session. Ophthalmic Assistant Y. Chingphuh Phom delivered the main talk. He pushed for regular check-ups and early detection to stop vision loss before it starts.

Staff held a similar event at PHC Tamlu. Ophthalmic Assistant Loktinola spoke to locals about basic eye care, focusing on refractive errors and diseases that people can avoid with proper treatment. Doctors conducted eye screenings at both locations. They handed out reading glasses to patients to help them see better. These efforts aim to give the community better access to basic eye care services.
