KCP Military Wing Marks 22nd Anniversary with Call for Independence

Imphal: The Kangleipak Communist Party military wing, Miyamgi Fingang Lanmi (MFL), marked its 22nd Raising Day on August 13. Events occurred at the 131 Battalion, the Central Headquarters, and various company and mobile units across valley districts, according to Media Coordinator A. Luwangba Meetei.

Chief of the Army Staff H. Ibomcha, General Secretary H. Poirei, Deputy Finance Secretary Th. Bobby, and G-2 officer Athoiba Meethunglen honored fallen cadres with floral tributes. Athoiba Meethunglen raised the organization flag before a two-minute silence. Capt. Chinglen Meetei delivered a message titled Mayambu Taramna Okchabagi Warol. Capt. Y. Somorjit Meetei read a statement from the Military Affairs Committee.

H. Ibomcha blamed India for suppressing the local struggle for self-determination. He cited rising youth deaths and a falling birth rate as threats to the community. He demanded unity among revolutionary groups in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and the WESEA region to stop the erosion of indigenous societies. Th. Bobby praised the fighters, describing those who died as “heroes of the land” while insisting the push for sovereignty continues.

H. Poirei challenged India as a political entity, noting it formed from 565 princely states without full consent. He claimed Manipur, or Kangleipak, maintains a history stretching back over 2,000 years. The event ended with a vote of thanks from Lt. Th. Aheiba.

A separate ceremony took place at the Hirachandra Force Company. Capt. M. Punsiba and Lt. T. Saiyon Meetei led the tribute. Capt. Th. Kabolakpa and Lt. H. Thengra also attended. They held a gun salute and placed flowers at the martyrs memorial.

The group also corrected errors from an August 12 report regarding the 1977 formation of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak and its Red Army. Leadership apologized for the mix-up.
