Guwahati: Kamrup Police blocked a cattle smuggling run late Monday, July 27, in the Chamaria Legislative Assembly Constituency. Officers seized 16 animals and cuffed three suspects during the operation. The arrests followed a tip-off.

A police team led by Goroimari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Momin stopped a vehicle, registration AS-01 PC-9335, at Jahirpur. The truck held 16 cattle. The drivers had no valid paperwork for the shipment.

Police arrested Moinul Haque of Saru Arikati, Samsul Haque of Kasaripam, and Safiul Islam of Kalgachia in Barpeta district. Authorities moved the animals to Goroimari Police Station. Detectives are now questioning the men to find the source and final destination of the load.

Officials suspect this haul is tied to a larger criminal operation. Police said the investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in the alleged racket. Officers remain focused on shutting down illegal trafficking routes across the region.
