Kohima: The District Mental Health Programme at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima finished its observation of Suicide Prevention Week on September 16. The initiative ran from September 11 to 16 under the theme, "Changing the Narrative on Suicide."
Staff hit the streets to hold awareness sessions at several local institutions. They visited Government High School in New Market, Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Mavericks Academy, and NPSC Mentors. Teams also used Akashvani Kohima and Doordarshan Nagaland to broadcast information about mental health services to the broader public.
Speakers tackled deep-seated myths and common misconceptions about mental struggles. They pushed students to break down barriers to care. The goal remains clear: cut the stigma and get help to those who need it before it is too late. The program urged residents to look out for their neighbors. It asked everyone to build a culture where those in distress feel heard.
