Kohima: Dimapur officials gathered industrial operators at Hotel Saramati on August 24 to demand better environmental standards. The District Industries Centre and the Nagaland Pollution Control Board hosted the event under the National Clean Air Programme. They want cleaner air. Officials made it clear that factories must balance growth with environmental safety.
Functional Manager N Abeno Lotha delivered the keynote address. She pushed operators to follow regulations and work closely with state agencies. Yanathung Kithan, a scientist with the board, warned that particulate matter and other pollutants cause serious damage to health. He told the room that "maintaining good air quality requires collective responsibility and active participation from industries, government agencies and the public."
Aghali A Swu, a senior engineer, outlined the technical requirements for site operators. She demanded regular monitoring and better maintenance of all pollution control equipment. Proper waste management remains a top priority for the board. Lucy Ngouri chaired the session, which included representatives from various industrial units and stakeholders across the region.
