Kohima: Dimapur Municipal Council issued a firm directive to all traders and business owners. You have until September 30, 2026, to fix your signage. Every shop, commercial establishment, and trader must mount a clear, readable sign at their entrance or frontage.
Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo confirmed the specific requirements for these boards. Businesses must list their name, the nature of the trade, the DMC trade license number, and the shop permit. If applicable, you must also include your GSTIN and any other details required by local law. The goal is simple identification and license verification.
The council is not playing games. "Failure to comply within the stipulated period would invite necessary action under the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, and applicable rules, regulations, licence conditions and other lawful directions," the DMC warned in a press release. Violators could face steep penalties. In some cases, the council may move to suspend or cancel your trade license entirely.
