Kohima: Medical officers in Dimapur gathered at the CMO Conference Hall on August 7 for a training session. The workshop focused on preparing for Ebola and zoonotic diseases. Doctors need to stay sharp. Dr. Ito T. Yeptho from the District Hospital Dimapur taught the group about Ebola epidemiology, transmission paths, and reporting protocols. He pushed for early detection and fast coordination with surveillance teams.
Dr. K. Pewezo Khalo explained the strict rules for handling samples. He detailed the process for collection, transport, and testing. Precise lab work saves lives. During the afternoon session, IDSP epidemiologist Dr. Molungtsungba covered common animal to human illnesses like rabies, anthrax, and leptospirosis. He advocated for the One Health approach. He stated: "He stressed intersectoral coordination between health, animal husbandry and community stakeholders for prevention, surveillance and control."
