Kohima: Dimapur’s District Planning and Development Board met Monday at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall to greenlight several major local initiatives. The board officially approved the Local Area Development Programme for the 2026-27 cycle. They also signed off on the registration of the Covenant Foundation under the Societies Registration Act.
The session began with a briefing on the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. State Nodal Officer Dr. Nyanthung Kikon, representing the Department of Health and Family Welfare, confirmed that Dimapur is now a model district for the program. The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Diana Patton and attended by Advisor for Industries and Commerce Hekani Jakhalu.
Education took center stage during the approvals. The board authorized renaming ITIKI Montessori School to ITIKI School in Darogapathar. Grace Fountain School in Duncan Bosti earned approval to expand from Class V to Class VIII. Officials also granted aid to Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School at Milan Mandir. They hit a wall on one request, however, deferring the ownership change for Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School for more review.
Jakhalu closed the meeting with a firm reminder to the members. She said, “Members who were unable to attend should ensure that representatives attended on their behalf.” She pushed for better attendance to keep the development work moving.
