Guwahati: Dhubri police caught a suspected drug peddler late September 10. Officers swarmed Bokker Gali in Ward 10 following a tip about illegal pharmaceutical sales. The raid netted 30-year-old Arif Sheikh, son of Manzil Sheikh.
Police searched the suspect and found a stash of medicine. The haul included 256 Tramadol tablets, 70 prolonged-release Isosorbide Mononitrate tablets, and five U14 insulin vials. Officers also took his mobile phone. They intend to use the device to trace the supply chain. "Investigators are expected to examine the device to trace the alleged supply chain, identify suppliers and establish possible links with buyers."
The phone heads to forensics now. Authorities already produced Sheikh before the district judiciary. He remains in police custody while the department digs deeper into the distribution network.

In a separate enforcement action, Tinsukia Police collared 11 suspects on Friday, September 12. Officers swarmed multiple locations across the district after days of surveillance. Investigators suspect the crew of running financial scams, including hijacking bank accounts through OTP theft and social media manipulation. Authorities are currently scouring seized phones and banking records to determine if the group acted solo or as part of a larger cybercrime syndicate.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Dinesh Pratap Singh Rathore identified 31-year-old Amit Singh as an alleged mastermind behind the Tinsukia operation. Investigators now link the network to the use of mule accounts to move money, alongside involvement in online betting. The suspects, ranging from 22 to 31 years old, allegedly used these accounts to withdraw fraud proceeds at ATMs.
Police recovered diaries, passbooks, and ATM cards along with mobile phones. Officials are currently probing inter-district and inter-state connections, noting the group had been active for a significant period. While ten suspects were sent to judicial custody, police sought a remand for Singh to press for further details on the broader syndicate.
