Imphal: The Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee met the Indian weightlifting team at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11:05 a.m. The squad just returned from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. The 16-member contingent arrived with 11 athletes and 5 coaches in tow.
Five athletes and one coach represent Manipur. The group includes Mirabai Chanu, Bindiyarani Devi, Nirupama, Martina, Rishikanta Singh, and coach Nafisha. The team returned home with a stash of medals. Mirabai Chanu grabbed gold. Rishikanta Singh took silver. Bindiyarani Devi earned a bronze medal.
The committee praised the athletes for their performance. Members stated, "their success has brought great honour to both Manipur and the country." The committee offered their congratulations and looked toward future international competitions. They expect more wins from this group.
