Agartala: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) inked two major agreements on September 15, 2026. The move aims to harden India against tech-driven threats. It follows directives from the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister to boost the cyber capabilities of security forces.
The first deal links the CISF with C3iHub, a foundation at IIT Kanpur, for a three-year cyber security initiative. They will host a six-week residential program for forty personnel per batch. The training covers critical infrastructure protection, digital forensics, and deepfakes. Students will also practice multi-sector crisis simulations. IIT Kanpur will run this training at no cost. Officials stated, "The programme will be conducted free of cost."
A second agreement creates a Centre of Excellence at the CISF center in Behror, Rajasthan. This five-year project focuses on drone operations and anti-drone tech. Research will track rogue drones and RF detection. The team plans to build simulators and forensic labs to support the force. These partnerships add to the CISF network that already includes IIT Madras, IIT Ropar, IIITDM Kancheepuram, and the Drone Federation of India. The goal is to build indigenous tools under the Atmanirbhar Bharat framework.
