The East Khasi Hills district administration is clearing the skies for his arrival. Security clampdowns extend beyond the city center. The Ri-Bhoi district administration has locked down the stretch from Shillong Airport at Umroi to Umiam, declaring it a no-drone zone for the duration of the visit. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Abhishek Saini issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, citing safety requirements for the VVIP movement.
Officials confirm the ban covers drones, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, and remotely piloted aircraft. Anyone looking to fly in the restricted zone needs written permission from the authorities first.
