KSU Leader Pynkmenlang Sanmiet Hospitalized from Shillong Jail

Shillong: East Khasi Hills police moved Khasi Students Union vice-president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet from Shillong District Jail to Civil Hospital on Saturday. Sanmiet reported feeling unwell as his blood pressure spiked. He needs care. Sources confirmed he has a pre-existing condition that previously required treatment at Bethany Hospital in Shillong.

KSU leaders and members trailed Sanmiet to the hospital. Doctors examined the detainee before police hauled him back to jail. Sanmiet remains in judicial custody following his August 19 arrest alongside KSU president Raymond Kharjana and general secretary Reuben Najiar.

Authorities cuffed the trio over a motorcycle rally held that same day. The KSU organised the event to protest the state government, but the demonstration spiraled into clashes and violence. Regarding the ongoing legal battle, the union maintains its stance as the case proceeds. Sanmiet stays behind bars.
